Matthew's Meanderings

Hello and welcome to another exciting glimpse into the mind of Matthew the Newsagent, otherwise known as Matthew's Meanderings. Family is on my brain, as I just got married two weeks ago (aww, shucks), so this week's blog stems from that new mindset.



The Winter issue of Yes! magazine is all about finding happiness in family life in this challenging economic climate. Yes! continues to be a strong voice for thinking positively, and we're proud that it is published locally on Bainbridge Island. I hope we get to see another 50 issues of this fine magazine!



I told the new wife that she might be interested in the new film about the darker side of the ballet world, "Black Swan." Apparently Darren Aronofsky has another hit on his hands with this effort, and it's getting plenty of positive press coverage. It's on the covers of Movie Maker, American Cinematographer and Fangoria this month. I sure hope she doesn't have nightmares after seeing it!



Speaking of nightmares, there are a lot of Spanish soccer players tossing and turning at night after facing the juggernaut that is FC Barcelona. After their 5-nil demolition of Real Madrid in "El Clasico" last Monday (which my eight-year-old stepson enjoyed immensely; he loves Lionel Messi), they sit atop the Primera Liga again. Is there a secret to their success? Perhaps the answer lies in the newest issue of FourFourTwo. There are only a few copies left, so hurry in before they're gone.
