...so I took advantage of our awesome New York Times home delivery subscription offer (the entire week for only $6.75 [or Mon-Fri for just $2.50]) two weeks ago. I was stoked, but it didn't last long, as I discovered that my new family life limited my newspaper reading time to about fifteen minutes a day (which, as anyone knows, is not enough for the NYT). *sigh ;-)* Perhaps The Guardian Weekly would be a better fit...
Yes, you have stumbled upon yet another episode of "Matthew's Meanderings"... (too many ellipses!-ed.)
Last week I talked about taking the wife to see "Black Swan." I actually have two other movies coming up this week. Tuesday night, I'll be taking in the new Johnny Depp (featured on the cover of the January issue of "Vanity Fair")/Angelina Jolie film, "The Tourist." Next weekend brings the excitement of the long-awaited sequel to the 1982 Disney classic "Tron," "Tron: Legacy" (now covered in "Sci Fi" and "Total Film" magazines). I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to pony up for the IMAX showing at the newly refurbished Cinerama (welcome back!!), but if the Daft Punk/London Philharmonic Orchestra soundtrack is any indication, it's not going to matter; it will be great!
We've gotten a lot of positive feedback here about our massive lighted reproduction of the current "Mother Jones" cover, featuring the lipsticked pit bull herself, Sarah Palin. Well, you'll be pleased to know that we have received a second shipment of that issue (it sold out rather quickly after we put the poster up), so come by for your very own copy of a collector's item in the making.
*And now a word from my sponsor*
The holidays are upon us, so please remember that we carry plenty of affordable gift ideas (something I sure do appreciate ;-). Gift cards range from $5-$100. We have something for everyone, so put Bulldog News on your list of places to visit as you flex your financial muscles during this "recession recovery" period. That's Bulldog News, open from 8-8 daily for all of your shopping needs!
Gee, thanks for the tip. Speaking of saving money (nice!), the Chinook Book saved me a few bucks this week. I used a 20% off coupon for my local bookstore on Friday evening, and one of its four free Metro bus tickets helped get me to work this morning. It's definitely worth the $20 price tag. It pays for itself quickly!
That's a happy thought to leave on, I think. I'll be back again next week with another action-packed installment. Until then, see you 'round the store.
Matthew
