French Photo - Lady Gaga

This month's Photo (French) came in with another striking Lady Gaga cover.  Plus some luscious desert photos and challenging photos of the people who subsist by scavenging garbage dumps.  One of the great things about Photo (French) is its breadth of coverage.  It is always worth checking out, but it definitely isn't suitable for all viewers!

Next issue (expected mid February) will be the amateur issue.

Not to be forgotten: Catherine Deneuve does Tetu

Tetu, Classic Motorsports, Philosophy Now, Archaeology (top10 discoveries of the year), Evo (oh wait, don't the Top Gear guys despise Evo?), Home Remodeling Guide (still useful), Cook's Illustrated (the original with chili, spaghetti, the secrets to perfect cookies),  and Wooden Boat magazine's annual Small Boats special.

A few new titles this week (Trains, French, Fashion, Music)

Five new titles that you can check out with the other new arrivals next to the cash register.

Trains4Kids (a Trains magazine special)

Maniere de Voir (Jan/Dec)  French language bimonthly.  This issue focuses on urbanization (l'urbanisation du monde).

Tranoi #7 a fashion design alternative magazine.  This issue features a Japanese style book binding and 3-d glasses.

Big Cheese  from the UK.  We've had it before, but it disappeared from our shelves for a couple of years.  We have tracked it down again.  And no, it is not about cooking, but about music.

Oh Comely describes itself as "a magazine about people and their quirks and their creativity, rather than money and what it can buy."

Translation: It Gives Me the Willies

Many people struggled over the translation, but one enterprising fellow took it to his French class.

Thanks!

Translation wanted? New French Magazine

New magazines arrive unexpectedly, some are obvious, some are not so obvious. Especially if they are in a language that one is not so fluent.

This picture could not help but catch my eye!

and so the hunt for a translation was on..

Several people with far better French than mine were also stumped, and have gone afield to research it.

In case you want to read the whole article, the magazine is InRockuptibles

French day!

Hey it was French day! Many of our monthly titles from France came in (via Canada). We also had TPM (The Philosopher's Magazine), Mystery Scene, Time Out London (spring-summer), and I tossed in the new Elle (Spain) as well.
